Gentlemen,

We have to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of yesterday's date enclosing copy of despatch which you have received through the Colonial Office from the Governor of Hong Kong covering the report which he had received from Mr Bruce of the result of the survey for the Kowloon Canton Railway and we note that His Excellency has decided to adopt Route No.1 namely the low level Esstern

route.

We should have communicated with you on the subject before but have been awaiting the receipt of the plans which Mr Bruce stated were being sent by the same mail as his letter of 21st October (received on the 18th ultimo) but which are not yet to hand.

On the receipt of the plans we will communicate

with you further.
